Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detectors

The Kidde KN-COPF-i Silhouette alarm operates on a 120V power source. The sealed-in rechargeable battery back-up lasts the 7-year life of the alarm, according to the company. This alarm uses advanced electrochemical CO-sensing technology, providing reliable protection against the dangers of carbon monoxide. The battery back-up feature provides continuous monitoring of CO levels, even during power outages when AC-only units do not provide protection. This unit will interconnect with other Kidde CO and smoke alarms to provide the earliest warning of a CO or fire hazard. The digital-display feature allows for easy viewing of carbon monoxide levels from 30 to 999 parts per million.

A carbon monoxide detector, or CO detector, sounds an alarm to prevent poisoning by carbon monoxide (CO), a colorless and odorless compound produced by incomplete combustion that is lethal at concentrations of 100 parts per million (ppm). OSHA limits long-term workplace exposure levels to 50 ppm. In a residence, CO can be formed by open flames, space heaters, water heaters, blocked chimneys or running a car inside a garage.
