<p>As one of the nation's largest online retailers of precious metals, the American Precious Metals Exchance Inc. (APMEX) is understandably dead serious about security. Its recent move to the site of the former Federal Reserve Bank of Oklahoma City prompted an upgrade of the existing access control, burglary and CCTV systems.</p>
<p>APMEX hired Oklahoma City-based system integrator STAMPSCO, a company specializing in fire/life-safety, access control, audio/video, and IT systems design and installation to engineer and deploy a solution encompassing the latest in IP megapixel video, electronic access control and intrusion detection.</p>

<p>Mall of America (MOA) in Bloomington, Minn., is a world unto itself. Known as the city within a city, MOA spans four miles of storefronts, employs 13,000 people, and hosts 40 million visitors and 350 special events each year. Ensuring this unique environment is as pleasant and safe as possible is of the highest priority.</p>
<p>Minneapolis-based VTI Security was brought in to design and deploy a solution that would improve the quality, speed and reliability of MOA's failing video surveillance system. The new system would need to cover 4.2-million square feet of enclosed common-area space, including a 7-acre indoor amusement park and 1.2-million-gallon aquarium.</p>

<p>To facilitate monitoring operations, cameras are accessed and controlled using the OnSSI solution with map overlays of the city that display all the schools/locations. The system is hosted on multiple servers custom built by Micro Integration at multiple sites and integrated. Beaumont Schools IP video surveillance system shares a centralized network backbone with the district's IT system but is partitioned to assure uninterrupted operation and added network security. The cameras streaming to the servers require significant bandwidth on the district's 1Gbps Ethernet network, so each of the satellite systems run independently on their own backbones and are then tied together on a WAN that feeds into OnSSI's solution.</p>
