False Alarm Fines Escalate for NonPermit Holders in Metro, Tenn.

METRO, Tenn.—As of March 24, 2000, there were approximately 23,000 Metro residents and businesses who had yet to reregister their alarms. To encourage payment of fees, the city will charge nonpermit holders $62.50 for every false alarm. Those with permits will only be charged $37.50, beginning with the sixth annual false alarm.
