Fire-Lite Raises $57,000 for Diabetes Research

More than 160 Fire-Lite Alarms/NOTIFIER employees, family and friends helped raise $57,000 for diabetes research at the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation’s 1999 Walk to Cure Diabetes. By taking part in the 5K walk, the employees raised $28,500, which the company matched.

Mark Levy, president of the Northford, Conn.-based company, served as the 1999 Grand Marshall for the walk, which drew more than 2,000 walkers to New Haven’s Lighthouse Point Park.

The Fire-Lite Alarms/NOTIFIER team was walking in memory of Damien Scott, a longtime employee who died in 1998 due to complications from diabetes.
