Winners React to Security Sales’ Web Site Contest

“At first, when I received the E-mail stating that I had won, I thought it was a joke,” says Jerry “Randy” Moore, after learning he was one of the winners of Security Sales’ Web site unveiling giveaway. “I receive a lot of E-mails from people I never heard of and usually delete them right away. I’m glad I took the time to read this one!”

Noel Todd Dillon of New York Power Authority’s Security Department, proudly shows off his grand prize, a new PalmPilot.

Moore, a service specialist for Siemens Building Technologies in Christiansburg, Va., where he resides with his wife and newborn baby, was one of four winners selected at random from a pool of nearly 200 security professionals who entered the drawing between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30, 1999. His first-place prize was a deluxe Cross pen and pencil set.

“After being informed of my winning status, I was certainly a bit surprised because I never win anything!” he adds. “I received the pen and pencil set in the mail the following week. It is a very nice set.”

Grand prizewinner Noel Todd Dillon, a nuclear security officer with New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) Security Department, was also delighted to discover he had won a PalmPilot. Dillon, who also serves on NYPA’s Fire Brigade and Confined Space Rescue Team, says he takes security very seriously.

First-place winner Jerry “Randy Moore” an eight-year security industry veteran, says he was “surprised” to learn he had won a deluxe Cross pen and pencil set.

“I have been a security policeman for four years and a member of the Emergency Services SWAT Team,” he says. “I am also a member of the New York National Guard 105th Security Forces Squadron, am working on college degree in security management, and am a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA).”

Moore and Dillon say they are loyal Security Sales readers and are quite impressed by the magazine’s revamped Web site.

“I enjoy Security Sales and find it to be a great resource for finding information on many different security issues as well as staying current with the most up-to-date systems,” says Moore. “The Web site is a wonderful addition to an already excellent magazine.”

Second-place contest winner David K. Baker, of SecurityLink from Ameritech in Worthington, Ohio, who received a Brother electronic label maker, and third-place winner Michael McCray, of McCray Alarm in Asheville, N.C., who won a copy of the book “Death Row,” could not be reached for comment.
