21,000 Find Jackpot of Products at 2006 ISC West

LAS VEGAS — More than 21,000 filled the halls of Las Vegas’ Sands Expo and Convention Center from April 4 to 7 to sample products from 850-plus exhibitors and get an education in the process at the 38th International Security Conference (ISC) West.

The integration of IP and physical security was among the prominent themes on this year’s show floor. In addition to that and the customary product debuts, this year’s event saw some new companies as well as familiar firms with new names.

Checkpoint Systems’ former access control product division made its debut at ISC as the independent Sielox, while ASSA ABLOY announced the consolidation of many of its access control brands into HID Global. Distribution giants ADI, Tri-Ed and The Systems Depot were among those making important announcements at the show.

The extensive program of educational seminars was highlighted by the keynote address from former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, the cover subject of SSI’s September 2005 issue. Among the exhibitors making big showings in Las Vegas were Altronix, Panasonic Security, GE Security, Honeywell Security, Bosch Security, Stanley Security and the usual visual display put on by Pelco.
