ISC West: Takeaways From Day 1 On the Show Floor

Here are five technologies that were on display on Day 2 at the Sands Expo:

1. 4K Video: It’s no secret that video surveillance is moving more and more toward 4K and IP technology. SSI visited Sony to learn more about the SNC-VB770, which will be available in a few months, that the company says has more light sensitivity and sensitivity, as well as a new 35mm sensor.

Sony Senior Product Manager Allen Chan walked SSI through a demonstration of the SNC-VB770 Below is the second part of the demonstration, which is a continuation of the video atop the page.

2. Cloud VMS: Eagle Eye Networks President Dean Drako wants his company to be known as a game changer in VMS. To do that, Drako and Co. showcased the Eagle Eye Bridge 304w on Thursday, a bridge appliance that connects wireless and wired cameras to the Eagle Eye Data Center.

Eagle Eye Networks’ Will Harris showcased the company’s interface and how it uses the bridge, which is fully supported on the cloud.

3. Thermal Camera: At the 3xLOGIC booth, the VERA Thermal Camera was on display. The camera is used to spot intruders or to monitor temperature changes in specialized applications, according to the company. 3xLOGIC Senior Director of Marketing Wendi Burke spoke to the advantages of thermal cameras as opposed to motion-sensor cameras, citing a reduction in false alarms with thermal technology.

Product manager Justin Capra gave a demonstration of the benefits of the thermal camera.

4. Biometrics: SRI Identity highlighted the benefits of biometric access control in applications with its newly released IOM Access Control Tablet. The tablet is built on an Android platform and is said to fuse an access control reader, biometrics, keypad, intercom, camera and other capabilities.

SRI Identity President Mark Clifton gave a demonstration of the biometrics technology in action.

5. Smart Locks: Kwikset took SSI on a tour of its Signature Series Deadbolt locks that are equipped with its Home Connect technology. The motorized deadbolts are said to utilize the Z-Wave wireless protocol to enable remote locking and unlocking.
