BICSI Offers Electronic Safety and Security Courses

TAMPA, Fla.

BICSI, the association supporting the information transport systems (ITS) industry, is offering Electronic Safety and Security (ESS) courses beginning in 2010.

The courses will be based on the Electronic Safety and Security Design Reference Manual, 2nd edition, in response to the convergence of ESS systems on the network. The association’s increase in membership also contributed to the creation of three ESS courses.

The first course, ESS100, is an introduction to the ESS series. It will cover security design basics and theory, as well as current and future trends. The course also provides concepts related to integrating ESS and information transport systems including devices, roles, requirements and processes.

ESS110, Designing Electronic Safety and Security Systems, is a 5-day course that provides ITS professionals with the knowledge needed to design ESS systems. This course reviews various integration practices, methodologies and devices when designing electronic safety and security systems, identifying how physical and electronic safety and security work together as a comprehensive package.

The third course, ESS Design Specialist Review, features a fast-paced review of the BICSI reference manual, highlighting the critical areas ITS professionals should know for the ESS Specialist exam. Practice tests and general test taking tips are included. This is the only official BICSI-sanctioned review course for the ESS Specialist exam.
