Comcast Rolls Out Home Security Service to More U.S. Cities

PHILADELPHIA — Comcast Corp. has expanded its home security business to new marketing areas, the company announced today. First launched in Houston last year, the company now offers its Xfinity Home Security service in parts of Florida, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

The program provides users with 24/7 monitoring for home security and fire alarm protection. It also allows clients to view live video from wireless cameras via Web-enabled devices or through the Xfinity iPhone app. Users will get real-time E-mail or text alerts when motion detectors report activity occurring inside or outside the home.

The platform also offers other remote services, such as adjusting thermostats and turning lights on or off, says Comcast Cable Senior Vice President Mitch Bowling. “It comes with a range of broadband-based technologies,” he says. “That helps customers to stay better connected to their homes virtually anytime, anywhere.”

Comcast plans to launch the product in other areas before the end of the year.
