ROCHESTER, Minn. — Strong customer service and employee retention skills helped earn Custom Alarm a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Blue Ribbon Small Business Award for the second consecutive year.
The award highlights such best practices as business strategy, employee development, community involvement and customer service. To qualify, entrants had to have fewer than 250 employees and gross revenues of less than $20 million in 2008 and 2009, Custom Alarm Director of Marketing Nikki Johnson tells SSI.
“We won for our treatment of customers and our customer retention efforts,” says Johnson. “In the application, we had to list our company mission and goals. We also listed our strategies for maintaining and recruiting employees and the internal things we do to keep our associates efficient and happy.”
Custom Alarm employees and management often donate time and monetary donations to community outreach efforts, Johnson says. “The award acknowledges what our company stands for, which is how we treat our associates and customers. Being recognized as succeeding on all those levels is quite an accomplishment.”
