AURORA, Ill. — Alarm Detection Systems (ADS) has expanded its footprint in southeastern Wisconsin with the purchase of Kenosha, Wis.-based Apex Alarm Systems. Terms of the deal were not released.
ADS’ purchase of Apex Alarm Systems brings in more than $15,000 in recurring monthly revenue (RMR) and several hundred residential and commercial accounts. The deal was a natural fit for ADS, as the firm already has accounts in the same region, ADS Vice President and CFO Terry Olah tells SSI.
“We are well known in the Midwest as a great buyer of quality companies,” he says. “We look forward to expanding our presence in that area even further.”
Founded more than 40 years ago, Apex Alarm Systems provides clients with access control, CCTV, fire alarm, flood alarm, home automation and intrusion alarm solutions. As part of the transaction, former Apex customers will now receive technical support from the ADS team, as well as receive monitoring from the firm’s own UL-Listed, FM-approved central station.
Apex President and Founder Jim Pascucci, as well as the entire sales office and management team, will continue to operate under the ADS brand name.
Since its establishment in 1968, ADS has completed more than 60 acquisitions. For 2014, the company will stay on the acquisitions route, and plans to make more deals to expand its presence in the Midwest.
“We select and integrate acquisitions in a manner that makes financial sense to us,” Olah says. “When a good operator in our area is available, we are very aggressive in putting a seller-friendly deal together. The new accounts will enjoy our responsive service and expanded offerings, and we will be a great employer for the seller’s employees. Everyone wins.”
