Arizona Customer Claims Alarm Company Misled Her

A Guardian Protection Services customer claims company reps told her to leave security equipment she owned behind when she moved, and then wanted to charge her for equipment in the new home.

GILBERT, Ariz. – A Guardian Protection Services customer is angry at the firm, claiming company representatives misled her when they told her to leave the security equipment she owned behind when she moved into a new home.

Sharon Milite originally signed up with a company called Protection Source, but her contract was serviced by Guardian Protection Services. When Milite called Guardian to tell company representatives she was moving, she says she was given specific instructions to leave the sensors at her old home.

Milite paid roughly $500 for the equipment, and when she moved, she only took the control box and key fob, CBS 5 reports.

The homeowner, she expected Guardian to install the sensors for free. Instead, she claims the company wanted more than $350 for the installation. The only way Milite would receive free equipment is if she agreed to add a year onto her contract.

Milite claims that Guardian representatives did not tell her about the cost of the new equipment up front and never gave her the option to use her old equipment.

The consumer, who says she has been a loyal Guardian customer for 34 months with no missed payments, is still paying monthly payments although she does not have any sensors or protection on her home.

After being contacted by CBS 5, Guardian Protection agreed to replace all of Milite’s equipment free of charge, with representatives stating that there was some confusion in the case.
