Armed Robber Turns Self in After Surveillance Video Emerges

A Trenton, N.J., man shown in a surveillance video trying to rob a business at gunpoint later watched the recording online and turned himself in.

TRENTON, N.J. – A man, who attempted to hold up a business here at gunpoint, turned himself into police after watching a surveillance video of the incident online.

Dwaine Whitaker, 23, tried to rob the store on July 14, and turned himself in on July 17 after the video emerged, NJ.com reports.

Whitaker told authorities he received a call from a friend who had seen the robbery video released by police. After watching the video himself, he told police he wanted to turn himself in, according to authorities.

The man has been charged with armed robbery and weapons offenses.
