ASIS 2016: ASSA ABLOY Announces Array of Access Offerings

Multitude of brands bring new residential, commercial and project products to market.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Martin Huddart, president, Access and Egress Hardware at ASSA ABLOY lead a press conference during the morning of Day 2 of the show. First, he highlighted residential offerings like the new Yale Bluetooth keyless lock and Digital Look Door Viewer products. He said the latter was particularly noteworthy for being wireless and battery-powered. Huddart also showed Yale’s suite of next-generation multifamily solutions that include nexTouch, Real Living digital deadbolts and the cloud-based Accentra software specifically designed for managing multifamily properties.

On the commercial side, Huddart talked about Medeco intelligent keys that can retain data that can be analyzed for auditing and other operational purposes. He noted the products are especially useful in retail applications. He said the access control giant’s primary initiatives at this time are leveraging Bluetooth communications and mobile key technologies. He mentioned mobile keys that rely on smartphones or PINs are particularly in demand on college campuses.

Education is one of the leading vertical markets for several of ASSA ABLOY’s brands, and Huddart also pointed out the merits of the new Asperio V3 wireless lock technology for K-12 school lockdown purposes. He also covered new solutions to secure healthcare cabinets to safeguard medications and datacenter cabinet locks to protect servers and related components. Lastly, Huddart remarked about ASSA ABLOY’s continuing R&D in the area of sustainability both in manufacturing processes and in the devices themselves.

Another interesting part of the presentation was a comprehensive project planning and execution program called Perimeter Insight. It encompasses the entire project scope and plan, using advanced technologies such as building information modeling (BIM) and virtual reality (VR), and incorporating all the security elements as well.
