Avaya Demonstrates Fabric Connect Technology’s IP Video Scalability at ASIS

The IP video surveillance solution is designed to eliminate complexity for a more efficient, cost-effective security solution.

Atlanta ― Avaya promoted its Fabric Connect technology and what it delivers to IP video surveillance system deployments at the ASIS exhibits. The Dubai World Trade Center, the city of Troy, Mich., and the Downtown Grand Las Vegas are among the facilities that have recently adopted Avaya’s innovative fabric technology. The technology provides an architectural foundation for networks that speeds the rollout of new services and improves network operations.

Faced with massive problems, the city of Troy turned to Fabric Connect and the results were impressive. The whole system took just a few days to implement and through network upgrades Troy was able to effectively deploy HD cameras that gave the municipality better visibility including being able to zoom in on vehicle license plates. The reliability of Avaya’s always-on network means that officers won’t miss footage containing potentially crime-solving evidence.

In the case of Dubai World Trade Center, one of the largest exhibition venues in the world, stakeholders were able to leverage the virtualization capabilities of Fabric Connect, to secure and isolate their video surveillance traffic over the converged infrastructure. Not only were they able to eliminate surveillance bandwidth problems, making it easier to comply with public safety requirements, they could also set up services much quicker than before.

Designed to simplify IP video surveillance deployment, Fabric Connect eliminates networkwide provisioning practices and substitutes it with simple endpoint provisioning with only one or two lines of command. System designers can provision only the ports attached to the cameras and the monitoring stations /receivers, without having to provision any of the core switches in between. According to Avaya, this allows video surveillance networks to be deployed faster and easier, with the ability to add, move and change cameras on the fly.
