Axis Expands Access Control Offering, Shows Off New Card Reader at ASIS

The AXIS A4011-E reader, a joint cooperation between Axis and ASSA ABLOY, is designed to work with the AXIS A1001 network door controller.

Atlanta ― Network video surveillance products leader Axis Communications continued to expand its reach into the access control market, featuring the AXIS A4011-E reader at the ASIS show. The device offers an ergonomic design with an illuminated keypad and clearly identifiable symbols. It supports touch-free entry with most entry card formats and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation.

The AXIS A4011-E’s intuitive user interface includes a sound indicator to communicate with the user. The keypad features backlight illumination and durable stainless-steel buttons. The product is a generic reader designed to be future proof; it supports several different card formats in order to meet specific system requirements. It can handle two different card formats simultaneously, which simplifies system expansion and enables migration from one card technology to another.

Axis first entered the physical access control market in 2013 with the launch of AXIS A1001 network door controller. That product is an independent unit that can be installed at each door, completed with third-party door accessories such as sensors, door locks and readers. Although the A1001 is compatible with most standard readers, Axis’ A4011-E is specifically designed to work with it for easy configuration.

“A year ago Axis announced its entry into the physical access control market with the industry’s first nonproprietary, open IP-based AXIS A1001 network door controller,” says Bruce Stewart, business development manager, access control, Axis Communications. “Today we expand this offering with the introduction of AXIS A4011-E reader, which is based on proven technology from ASSA ABLOY. This feature-rich and future-proof door reader is suitable for most installations, meeting our customers’ demands for a total solution.”

Axis also captured an ASIS Accolades award for its AXIS Q1615/-E network cameras. It is the fourth consecutive year Axis has received the recognition. The new fixed cameras automatically switch settings between high dynamic scenes with WDR forensic capture, and low light with Lightfinder mode to deliver quality daytime and nighttime images.
