IP-based audio, intercom, control and monitoring company Barix AG has announced that ipConfigure, a developer of enterprise IP video surveillance solutions, is exclusively specifying Barix Barionet IP control and monitoring devices into IP surveillance systems based on its Enterprise Surveillance Manager software.

“The ongoing migration from analog CCTV to digital IP video systems provides clear evidence of the quality improvement in surveillance video,” says Steve Lewis, vice president of Sales and Marketing, ipConfigure. “Although approximately 80 percent of the market is still analog, the 20 percent that have migrated to IP are realizing the benefits and improvements. Our relationship with Barix will help our customers leverage more IP devices through the Barionet’s rich feature set, opening up a new universe for our customers that were traditionally confined to closed, proprietary analog systems.”

The partnership will allow ipConfigure to vastly extend the number of components that can interface to its enterprise-class surveillance solutions. The strategic integration of Barionet devices into ipConfigure software solutions will also better enable the convergence of physical security and IT technologies for its customers. ipConfigure provides its Enterprise Surveillance Manager software to integrators and end users in a number of industries, including banking, healthcare, manufacturing, government, retail and education.

Barionet IP devices offer a variety of connections to interface digital and analog components to IP-based monitoring, control and automation systems. Barionets can be controlled over the network infrastructure to switch real-world indicators and actuators such as lights, doors locks or alarms.

ipConfigure can control any number of Barionet devices through its software depending on the size of the system and/or facility, adding new Barionets and their associated IP addresses to the network as required. Once a device is live, ipConfigure confirms which inputs and outputs are useable and what actions will be taken through those connections. The company has also built a rules engine around Barionet relays to forward E-mail alerts when a field device is actuated.

“iPConfigure’s commitment to an open architecture and IP surveillance makes Barix and ideal technical partner for interfacing many different types of components and systems to its enterprise-class software,” says Barix AG CEO and Founder Johannes G. Rietschel. “The programmable nature of the Barionet and its field-proven benefits gives ipConfigure and its customers a wide-open canvas for building customized and scalable IP surveillance systems.”
