BCDVideo Unveils Aurora Server Series as Part of Video Surveillance Storage

The company says the storage line is ideal for the under 50-camera marketplace.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. — BCDVideo, a manufacturer of video surveillance hardware, announced on Friday the latest innovation to their server storage line: the Aurora Server Series.

According to the company, the Aurora systems are built specifically for the under 50-camera marketplace, but with system throughput of over 400Mbps, they possess the bandwidth capabilities to scale to 100 cameras. Other features include redundant power, 12Gb/s RAID controller with 2GB of Flash Based Write Cache, hot-pluggable hard drivers, and server-grade CPU’s with 10000 PassMark rating.

A key element within these recorders, according to BCDVideo, is its use of HGST helium drives which feature an unprecedented reliability rating of 2.5M MTBF. These surveillance hard drives feature superior random write capabilities, which account for 90-95% of the hard drive’s usage in a surveillance solution.
