COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine filed a lawsuit against Orem, Utah-based Vision Security this week, alleging that the firm misled customers and failed to honor cancellation requests.
According to the lawsuit, representatives of the door-to-door alarm company made misrepresentations to consumers, indicating that its sales teams represented the customer’s current security firm. The suit also alleges that Vision Security, which usually requires a five-year contract, failed to honor the three-day right for cancellation, thus violating Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act and the Home Solicitation Sales Act, Legal Newsline reports.
DeWine seeks consumer restitution, injunctive relief and civil penalties.
