Florida Police Warn of Dishonest Alarm Salesman

Hernando County (Fla.) deputies have received reports that a Capital Connect sales representative is using dishonest tactics to sell homeowners upgrades to their security systems.

TAMPA, Fla. – Hernando County deputies are warning residents about a possible predatory door-to-door alarm salesman in the area.

Deputies said they received reports on July 12 about a man using dishonest tactics to sell upgrades to home security system, MyFox Tampa Bay reports.

The salesman allegedly told residents that he represented their current security alarm firms. He also said homeowners needed to replace the keypads of their alarm systems because of a recall.

When deputies caught up with the man, he said he represents a legitimate company called Capital Connect. The sales representative also claimed that he only admitted to working for the security firm.

Deputies are urging residents to contact their security company to verify the firm is sending someone before allowing anyone inside. Residents are also urged to ask for identification and be wary of any service that is not expected.
