Genetec Introduces Access Control Functionalities to SV-32 Appliance at ASIS

Product supports embedded access capabilities, allowing customers to rapidly deploy unified video surveillance and access systems. Genetec technology partner BCDVideo also displays its 2U Nova Series video recording platform.

Atlanta ― Like some others in the space, video surveillance management specialist Genetec demonstrated its intent to continue expanding its access control capabilities at the ASIS show. The Canadian company announced the evolution of its SV-32 appliance to provide native support for access control alongside video surveillance capabilities on a single turnkey solution. Also, technology partner BCD demoed its 2U Nova Series video recording platform at the Genetec booth.

Sometime before the end of the year, the SV-32 will come preinstalled with Genetec’s unified security platform, Security Center, to offer customers the ability to deploy either a unified security solution, standalone access control, or a video surveillance system. Designed to support a wide range of IP cameras and encoders, the SV-32 will provide native integration with a variety of IP-ready door controllers and electronic locks from Genetec’s ecosystem of access control technology partners. Supported devices will include the Genetec SMC (Synergis Master Controller), HID VertX and EDGE EVO, AXIS A1001 network door controller, ASSA ABLOY IP locks and Salto SALLIS locks, among others. Customers will be able to deploy the appliance to secure sites requiring up to 32 cameras, or up to 100 readers.

When deployed as a unified system, the SV-32 is designed to offer users a consolidated view of video and access control activities, while equipping security professionals with powerful monitoring, alarm management, and reporting tools. Operators will be able to verify cardholder pictures against live or recorded video associated to access-controlled doors, manage cardholders and their access rights, and issue credentials within a single application. As an all-in-one appliance, the SV-32 can be used as a single appliance to both monitor and record video, eliminating the need for an additional monitoring workstation.

Another product of note displayed at Genetec’s booth was BCDVideo‘s 2U Nova Series video recording platform. Preloaded with Genetec’s Security Center software, this turnkey package is designed to enable deployment of large-scale enterprise surveillance systems while minimizing total resources and setup time. Security Center’s open architecture allows customers to select their preferred cameras, door controllers, and edge device hardware from a wide range of manufacturers. BCDVideo’s Nova Series comes embedded with SMARTtechnology and includes a five-year onsite warranty.
