Honeywell Huddles Its Security and Fire Masses Together at ISC West

The leading manufacturer tries a new presentation approach, with connected home, cloud and life-safety grabbing attention.

LAS VEGAS — Honeywell shook things up a bit at ISC West with its first ever combination of its security systems and fire systems within a single, albeit quite large, booth space. The company also provided attendees with a more hands-on experience by setting myriad products up in a manner closer to the Apple store or Best Buy than typical exhibitor displays. The result was a relaxed, friendly and fun presentation.

On the security front, Director of Product Marketing for the Connected Home Robert Puric showed off the manufacturer’s Lyric professional-grade home security system (see video below). Featuring cameras and motion, smoke and intrusion detectors, Lyric also integrates with a range of home automation products including connected thermostats, lighting, shades and lock controls. Also shown was the new AlarmNet360 dealer management portal, which gives security technicians more powerful tools to use in the field. The beta version will appear in June, with the official rollout scheduled for 3Q 2015. Another standout demo was the MAXPRO Cloud, which Honeywell says is officially ready for primetime. The newest release offers more ways to make using hosted video easier, allowing end users to manage and monitor their video surveillance anytime, anywhere via the Internet.

Not to be outdone, on the fire/life-safety side of the house, Honeywell Fire Systems Director of Marketing Richard Conner demonstrated several new and useful innovations from Fire-Lite and other leading brands. They included: Fire-Lite’s SWIFT wireless mesh line of products now with increased battery life, new agency listings, accredited technical training and an enhanced software suite of new utilities; Fire-Lite’s emergency command center that now complies with new low frequency tone requirements; System Sensor carbon monoxide (CO) detection meeting new low-frequency alert requirements; and new software demo tools for dealers.
