Honeywell Reveals Lyric Home Security With Voice Control

Honeywell’s new Lyric Series, a professional-grade home security system, features cameras, motion, smoke and sensors that integrates with home automation, and control of lighting, shades and door locks.

At the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Honeywell (NYSE:HON) is showcasing the latest additions to its Lyric family of products that expands voice control to a professional-grade home security system.

Featuring awareness cameras, motion, smoke and intruder detectors, Lyric home security will also integrate with a range of home automation products, such as connected thermostats, lighting, shade and lock controls.

In addition to a sleek touchscreen controller, Lyric home security will respond to voice commands based on personalized presets. For example, users will be able to disarm the system simply by saying: “Hello Lyric, I’m home!” which could also switch on the lights and adjust the temperature to your preferred setting.

Lyric home security is the second product in the Lyric family, joining the thermostat which was launched in 2014. Using a smartphone location, the Lyric thermostat knows when a homeowner leaves and when he or she is heading home to adjust the temperature accordingly.

“In an increasingly connected world, consumers are looking for ways to simplify their lives,” says Jeremy Eaton, president of Honeywell Connected Home. “The Lyric family of products provides the comfort, protection and security homeowners want for their most valuable assets, and seamlessly connects with and automates other home systems to simplify their lives.”

Following Lyric’s introduction at CES, Orem, Utah-based NorthStar Alarm became the first dealer in the industry to announce it will offer the new home security line.

“We have high expectations for the Lyric line and are excited to offer it to our customers,” said Jason Christensen, CEO of NorthStar. “Not only is the Lyric panel modern and attractive, but it introduces new technology that aligns with our mission to provide our customers with superior products and services.”

NorthStar will begin offering the product line to customers this summer, Christensen said.
