Houston to Deploy Software to Improve Situational Awareness

HOUSTON — In an effort identify unusual behavioral events, the city of Houston will deploy BRS Labs’ AISight video surveillance software as part of its citywide surveillance program.

Serving as the eyes and brains for large-scale critical security settings, AISight attaches to existing infrastructure and pinpoints odd behavioral patterns in real time, according to BRS Labs.

“Our customers are moving past legacy video analytics technology,” says Hobby Wright, BRS Labs’ vice president for strategic programs. “Those systems relied on man-made rules and restrictions. Customers want the ability to gather surveillance intelligence throughout their operations.”

The city will add AISight into its critical infrastructure to boost situational awareness. The technology will also notify law enforcement of potential threats to help the city proactively combat security violations, says Maurice Singleton, security technology advisor, city of Houston.

“The ability to collect advanced video surveillance intelligence reflects the city’s commitment to proactively identify potential threats throughout city operations,” he says.
