LOUD Security Acquires Alarm Associates of Atlanta

LOUD Security picks up a mix of 1,200 residential and commercial accounts from the local security provider.

KENNESAW, Ga. – LOUD Security Systems, based here, has completed a deal to acquire Alarm Associates, picking up 1,200 residential and commercial customers in the Atlanta area.

Tom Johnson and his wife, Dawn, have operated Alarm Associates for nearly 30 years. Johnson explains he had no shortage of opportunities to sell the business while he’s been “looking for the company that would be right for my customers.”

“I chose LOUD for two reasons,” says Johnson, who will remain with the company in a part-time sales role. “They have great customer service and they have a lot of technicians on the street.”

Founded in 1995 and based in Kennesaw, Ga., LOUD Security designs, installs, monitors and services a complete line of security systems designed for intrusion and fire detection, access control, video surveillance, and home automation. The majority of LOUD’s revenues are derived from services to residential and business subscribers primarily in the Atlanta metropolitan region. The firm has approximately 60 employees and nearly 7,000 customers.

Although terms of the Alarm Associates deal were not disclosed, LOUD Security President John Loud tells SSI his company now has more than $210,000 in recurring monthly revenue (RMR). This latest acquisition includes an account mix of 60% residential and 40% commercial clients, which is the same as LOUD’s current breakdown.

“We’re proud to bring Alarm Associates and its 1,200 customers into the LOUD Security family,” says LOUD President John Loud. “We know very well that Tom could have chosen any one of several other companies, but he made a statement by choosing us.”

Steve Rubin of Davis Mergers and Acquisitions Group served as an adviser to Alarm Associates. John Colehower of Mergers and Acquisitions served as an adviser to LOUD Security.
