Industry Continued to Thrive in 2005

With the new year upon us, most of us are looking forward to better and brighter fortunes. There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic as the electronic security industry continues to grow at a clip that would be the envy of many other industries. In addition, the demand for security seems to be getting greater all the time. Newer technologies such as IP cameras, intelligent video, integrated systems, biometrics and wireless devices portend exciting growth opportunities.

To get where we want to be, we must know from whence we came. As usual, a glance back at the major stories of 2005 demonstrates just what an eventful year it was. Among the hot topics were installation and manufacturing company acquisitions, verified response policies and installation standards. Without further adieu, I present our annual recap of the year’s most significant headlines ripped from the pages of Security Sales & Integration.
