Integrator Praises AES-Intellinet’s Reliability During Hurricane Sandy

B&H Security is crediting AES-IntelliNet’s network with sustaining its connection with 99% of its clientele during and after Hurricane Sandy.

UNION, N.J. — B&H Security is crediting AES-IntelliNet’s network with sustaining its connection with 99% of its clientele during and after Hurricane Sandy.

“We only lost one radio due to an excessive amount of days without AC power at the location from the storm,” says Eliot Barry, president of B&H Security, an authorized AES Corp. dealer that offers security and emergency management solutions, as well as integrated services.

Floods or wildfires do not affect radio signals from the AES-IntelliNet solution, which eliminates the need for telephone service, cabling, personnel and generators, according to a company release. The scalable product offers complete control of services end-to-end and increases revenue while reducing monthly costs.

In an effort to help those impacted by the severity of the storm, which caused an estimated $60 billion in damages, AES put a same day shipping policy in place for all customers ordering equipment from the zone of the hurricane. Many alarm and security integration companies in New Jersey and New York anticipated emergency run of antennas, cable and connectors. However, AES customers found that even during power and Internet outages, the network remained dependable, according to AES Corp.

This isn’t the first time that the AES-IntelliNet network has undergone inclement weather trials. Throughout the California wildfires in late 2007 as well as Hurricane Katrina and tropical cyclone Wilma in 2005, the AES-IntelliNet alarm communications system withstood the challenges of catastrophic events.
