ISC West Serves as Springboard for Big Stanley News

LAS VEGAS — Companies routinely use the big trade shows to help catapult significant developments to the industry masses, and Stanley Convergent Security Solutions got off the first big shot at ISC West with news it acquired A-1 Security Ltd.

Owned by Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) President Bud Wulforst, the full-service security and monitoring company operates in the Las Vegas and Reno, Nev., markets. The purchase includes A-1’s more than 8,000 commercial, industrial and other business clients, plus its residential customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wulforst, who has operated A-1 Security for more than 25 years, will now focus full-time on his CSAA duties and other industry participation.

“Having Stanley Convergent Security Solutions acquire A-1 Security gives me the peace of mind knowing that my customers and employees will be taken care of with the highest level of service and responsiveness,” Wulforst says.

Brett Bontrager, president of Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, tells SSI the company is actively in search of more acquisitions after lying low in the 12 months since purchasing HSM Electronic Protection Services. Bontrager says, in particular, commercial providers are in his crosshairs.

“We will continue to evaluate installing/monitoring companies that bring more scale to our operations,” he says. And, Stanley Convergent Security Solutions COO Tony Byerly told SSI the company plans to step up its efforts as a national provider of installed and monitored fire/life-safety systems.
