Keep Calm and Prepare for ISC West 2015

SSI offers an overview of the collosal event known as ISC West 2015.

Viva Las Vegas! Electronic security contractors nationwide will convene at the Sands Expo & Convention Center on April 14-17 for the largest security industry trade show in the United States – the 47th annual International Security Conference (ISC) West.

Industry outsiders may wonder why ISC West is such a big deal. But security professionals looking to stay ahead of the competition know that the trade show will afford them the opportunity to meet with sales and technical representatives from more than 1,000 exhibitors and brands. Another bonus? With more than 28,000 attendees expected, security professionals can pick the brains of industry peers.

Hosted by Reed Exhibitions and exclusively sponsored by the Security Industry Association (SIA), ISC West is the place to find out about the latest and greatest security technologies, with more than 10,000 solutions on the show floor. SIA’s annual New Product Showcase, a popular event at the show, will honor the most recent, innovative products, which will give integrators ideas on what technologies they can use in upcoming projects.

However, the NPS isn’t the only opportunity for security systems integrators to find the best solutions for their installing jobs. Security Sales & Integration will launch the first-ever Most Valuable Product (MVP) Awards program, designed to shed light on how important products and technologies are to the success of security integration companies, during ISC West 2015.

And that’s not all. Because cyber threats and attacks affect physical security integrators’ businesses and networked technology solutions, show organizers will debut the IT Pavilion, which will feature the latest cybersecurity solutions.

Of course, ISC West isn’t just about security technologies. One important aspect of building a security business includes networking, and there are plenty of opportunities for attendees to mingle with other security professionals.

For example, SSI will host the 20th annual SAMMY Awards, which allows attendees to socialize and network with industry colleagues on the eve of the big show. Show-goers can also hit the links at the Alarm Industry Research and Education Foundation’s (AIREF) annual golf tournament on the day before the big event.

And let’s not forget the dozens of educational sessions scheduled to help electronic security contractors improve business operations!

Sessions Offer Help to Improve Business

This year’s show kicks off with the State of the Industry panel titled, “Talent Management: Best Practices for the Security Industry.” Open to all ISC West badge-holders, this three-member panel, which includes Dakota Security Systems’ Eric Yunag, an SSI Editorial Advisory Board member, will discuss tips to help security companies hire and retain strong, effective employees.

Moderated by industry analyst Sandy Jones, principal, Sandra Jones & Co., and SSI Editorial Advisory Board member, the session features a panel of industry leaders representing SIA, the International Security Management Association and the Domestic Security Alliance Council. The panelists will address the advantages of maintaining relationships with other security organizations and will explain how collaboration is strengthening the industry, shaping its future and affecting the next generation of security leaders.

If security firms are having difficulties drafting alarm contracts for clients, “The Seven Deadly Sins of Alarm Contracts: Common Errors and How to Correct Them,” session could prove beneficial. Security industry attorney Wendy Carlisle will discuss seven common mistakes most often seen in security alarm contracts, as well as solutions on how to fix those mistakes and make contracts more likely to be enforceable.
