A total of 19 peddler’s permits had been issued to Vivint personnel in March following background screenings, but complaints starting rolling in a few days later to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office. Parish attorney Patrick Jackson said 13 complaints were filed of overly aggressive sales tactics, including sales persons that returned to homes after being asked to leave.

Jackson said they wrote Vivint following the complaints. Vivint representative Eddie Hughes told jury members he and general counsel Nathan Wilcox had received the complaints, but did not have details. Hughes noted that one of the sales persons identified has been terminated.

“We tried to conduct an investigation after being notified of the problem and one of the people listed is no longer with the company,” Hughes said. “We have a code of conduct and if we find out employees are violating ordinances or rules we discipline them, up to termination.”

A future hearing following the investigation will determine if the company will continue to allow the peddler’s license, revoke the licenses or place strict parameters on its sales operation in Bossier Parish, according to the report.
