Luma Acquires Network Security Device Manufacturer Nodal Industries

Luma’s Wi-Fi router will be integrated with Nodal’s technology, which utilizes network-level analysis to detect malicious activity and actively block it.

ATLANTA – Luma, the creators of a sophisticated mesh network Wi-Fi router, has acquired Nodal Industries, developers of the Numa, a plug n’ play network security device. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Luma will integrate the Nodal technology into its intelligent Wi-Fi system, making Luma the only router with the ability to actively scan, detect and block malicious activity on any device connected to the home network, according to a press release.

Using a database of threats combined with behavior analysis to pinpoint virus and malware on any device connected to the home network, Nodal’s technology utilizes network-level analysis to detect malicious activity and actively block it.

Marcus Eagan, co-founder and former CEO of Nodal, joins Luma’s executive team as director of IoT security.

“By merging these two technologies, consumers will now enjoy the equivalent of having the world’s most advanced corporate internet security team right in their home,” Eagen says. “So you never have to worry about the security vulnerabilities that come with great smart home products ever again.”
