Grand Rapids, Mich.-headquartered Engineered Protection Systems (EPS), runner-up for this year’s CSAA Five Diamond Marketing Marvel honor, has been a member of the Central Station Alarm Association since 1979. Its 205 employees and six Michigan-based locations provide burglary, fire, video surveillance, access control, integration systems and monitoring services to more than 18,600 residential and commercial accounts throughout the Midwest.

“Five-Diamond status is important because we see value in the importance of all of our operators understanding industry knowledge, and we strive to be the very best at alarm monitoring,” says EPS Director of Business Development David Hood. “With this being a competitive market, this certification gives us an edge above others. We understand the value of using the CSAA Five-Diamond certification to our advantage.”

EPS promotes its Five-Diamond designation on its Web site, in brochures, on the walls of its UL-Listed and FM-approved monitoring center, as well in a slick booklet it distributes featuring the firm’s “Eleven Reasons to Consider EPS.” Mentions and links are also visible in Facebook posts, Twitter communications and a quarterly newsletter.

“Noting our highly certified central station is a necessary supplement to all marketing materials. We never stray away from displaying our certification,” says Hood. “Any brochure or print material larger than a single page will address this. These brochures are usually the first impact we can make on a prospective customer. And our EPS customer tours are one of the best ways we show off the central station, our local mission, and connect the dots between a prospect and our services. It’s a powerful experience many do not provide.”

New hires are introduced to the certification and EPS employees have the CSAA Five-Diamond logo in their E-mail signatures.

“I have come to understand the importance of holding to industry standards and surpassing the competition in every way possible,” says EPS Marketing Assistant Jeremy Schellie. “The Five-Diamond certification only furthers that effort.”

Management reports receiving positive notice and response from customers, emergency personnel, AHJs and insurance carriers regarding the accreditation.

“EPS has been one of the best companies that we dealt with and every dispatcher would recommend them,” says Kristin Cole of Kalamazoo (Mich.) Public Safety. “Their staff is professional, knowledgeable and courteous from the security consultant to the technician to the secretary.”

Congratulations to EPS on being the 2013 CSAA Five-Diamond Marketing Marvel runner-up
