BEAVERTON, Ore. — In an attempt to capture market share in low-cost security installations that are moving from analog to IP-based systems, Milestone Systems has introduced an embedded video management software (VMS) platform it calls Arcus.
Milestone’s strategy is to OEM the solution inside of other vendor’s cameras, network storage devices and other appliances, which can then be sold by their channels as an out-of-the-box solution. The embedded solutions are intended to be co-branded with Milestone. Arcus features a new development code in its core and is the first product from Milestone’s new Incubation & Ventures business unit, which was announced in February during the 2013 Milestone Integration Platform Symposium (MIPS).
With Arcus’ release, hardware vendors will have new growth opportunities that can accelerate their businesses, according to Balaji Srimoolanathan, principal consultant for aerospace, defense & security, Frost & Sullivan.
“There is conservatively $6 billion in analog sales by 2015 that will be converting to IP in the security equipment market, not including service and maintenance,” he says. “Milestone Arcus is timed right for this trend and can reach the low end of the security market that will be in transition. It will be a major driver, with huge impact in motivating a lot of people to move toward IP.”
Milestone will showcase its new offering in Booth No. 20149 at ISC West.
