DALLAS — The last quarter of 2010 proved to be a busy time for Monitronics Int’l Inc. employees, who took part in several charitable activities prior to and throughout the holiday season.

The Dallas-based alarm monitoring company, which was acquired by Ascent Media Corp. in December, kicked off its community outreach services with a food drive to support a local food bank. During the project, 750 employees contributed more than $16,000 in food and cash donations, according to a company press release.

On Nov. 16, Monitronics opened its doors to students from a local school for children with mental disabilities. During their visit, students toured different departments throughout the company that were decorated as gingerbread houses. The tour concluded with a catered lunch, carolers and a meeting with Santa where the kids received gifts. Employees also provided gifts for needy children at a local elementary school.

The company concluded the holiday season by donating $10,000 to local charities and organizations.

“Monitronics and its employees are very generous, and that has not changed even in the current economy,” says Mary Ingram, chairperson of Monitronics’ holiday committee. “[We] are proud to be part of an organization that not only helps the community, but also reaches out across the city to help many more.”
