Monitronics and Mission 500 to Stage 5K Run in Support of Needy Children

On Aug. 6, the organizations will host the Moni 5K for Children run at Monitronics headquarters, located near Dallas.

DALLAS – Monitronics is partnering with Mission 500 to host the Moni 5K for Children run Aug. 6 in support of children in need throughout North Texas.  Proceeds from the event will be used to provide weekend food packs for low income children at local Title One schools, as well as support local severe need students in becoming college ready.

The fundraiser will be held at Monitronics’ headquarters in Farmers Branch, Texas, located about 15 miles north of Dallas, and begin at 7:30 a.m.

“The Moni 5K for Children is a great way to encourage our local community to come together in support of children in need,” says Jeff Gardner, Monitronics’ president and CEO. “Compassion is a cornerstone of our company, and we hope to make the Moni 5K an annual event. We challenge other like-minded organizations across the country to host events that help advance the needs of their local communities.”

American running legend Bill Rodgers, four-time winner of both the Boston and New York City marathons, is scheduled to make a special appearance at the event. The male and female runners who place first will win $1,000 in prize money; second place runners, $750; third place runners, $500.

Corporate sponsorships are available at the Platinum, Gold and Silver levels, and in-kind sponsorships (product donations) are also available. Sponsor benefits include a table at the event, company logo on all Moni 5K for Children marketing materials, verbal recognition and the opportunity to increase the sponsor’s profile within the local community.

The $35 registration fee will provide a weekend lunchbox for a family of five in Farmers Branch. Registrants are invited to assemble a kit at the race. A portion of the proceeds will also be used to mentor underprivileged students for success in high school, college and a career. To register, visit moni5kforchildren.com.
