SW24 Offers Intrusion Detection Without Long-Term Monitoring Agreements

NEW YORK — Integrator SecureWatch24 (SW24) will offer several intrusion packages without long-term monitoring contracts to provide additional convenience for residential customers, the company announced.

The packages, which will be offered in October, allow customers to make monitoring payments on a month-to-month basis and remove the system when they see fit. Consumers must pay an upfront fee that covers installation and other costs and purchase their own wireless equipment.

Before deciding to launch the new marketing plan, SW24 conducted research that showed customers resented being tied to long-term contracts, while also being responsible for the termination fees and other costs associated with relocation or dissatisfaction with alarm company service. The company’s new customer-friendly model should resonate with clients, according to Jay Stuck, SW24’s vice president of sales and chief marketing officer.

“We believe consumers will willingly pay for this technology and the freedom from long-term monitoring contracts at the time of sale,” he says. “They will stick with us due to our customer service and the convenience we bring to the table. Our subscribers will not be merely a faceless number to be sold and resold to other monitoring companies or be yoked to a long term contract subject to expensive termination fees and other costs.”

SW24 executives acknowledged that the month-to-month monitoring model will end the intrinsic resale value of customer contracts that have driven the dealer channel in the past decades. Stuck said other alarm companies will adopt the new marketing concept.

“The industry is already shedding its old skin without realizing it,” he says. “The success of the ‘summer program’ companies, the rise of the telcos and cable providers and the foothold that do-it-yourself Internet sales-based companies have established have all combined to shake up the industry. Inertia is ending. We believe that the security industry and our customers will look back on this move as a game changer for the better.”

SW24 will begin rolling out the new sales model to clients in New York City.
