Protection One Finalizes Sale to Quadrangle Group
The sale of Protection One Inc. to the Quadrangle Group LLC has been finalized. Westar Energy Inc. has transferred its 87-percent interest in Pro One to Quadrangle after the transfer was approved by the Kansas Corporation Commission on Feb. 13. The sale is valued at $120 million. The sale ends utility company Westar’s entry into the alarm business. The company purchased Pro One for $320 million in the fall of 1997.

GE Recalls CO Detectors
GE Security is voluntarily recalling some of its carbon monoxide (CO) detectors because of a software problem that makes them ineffective after a year. The recall affects 74,000 ESL SafeAir 240-COE CO alarms manufactured between November 2000 and August 2002.
To participate in the recall, contractors should call (800) 648-7422 Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT.

Interface Acquires Monitoring Company
Expanding its reach in the Midwest, electronic security contractor Interface Security Systems LLC of St. Louis has acquired Control Security Systems Inc., also of St. Louis. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
CSSI monitors 12,000 customers in Missouri and Southern Illinois. Interface designs and installs security systems, as well as providing monitoring. It has locations throughout the Midwest, Texas and Southeast.
