Professional Hacker Added to PSA Cybersecurity Congress Agenda

Charles Tendell will bring a hacker’s insight into cybersecurity vulnerabilities of physical security devices at PSA Cybersecurity Congress to be held Jan. 20-21.

WESTMINSTER, Colo. – PSA Security Network has added Charles Tendell, a professional hacker from Azorian Cyber Security, to the PSA Cybersecurity Congress, scheduled for Jan. 20-21 outside Denver.

Tendell will offer an executive level presentation where attendees will gain a hacker’s insight into the security vulnerabilities of physical security devices. He will share how physical security devices get hacked and what attendees can do to make their next installation less of a target. The session, “Hardware Hacking and How to Prevent It,” will focus on common attack types to video, biometric and access control devices. The session will deliver information on how to make security systems more secure by asking the right questions before and during an installation, as well as an demonstration of a typical system exploit.

“Charles brings a unique perspective to this event, straight from the cybersecurity frontlines,” says Barbara Shaw, director of education for PSA Security Network. “We are eager to have him as part of this event to demonstrate firsthand just how exposed security networks can be and, more importantly, what steps integrators and manufacturers can take to prevent cybersecurity breaches.”

Tendell (CISSP, CEH, CHFI) has more than 15 years of experience in cybersecurity and digital investigation. He supports his “hacker first” approach by maintaining deep underground connections, which gives him and his team an edge when dealing with the ever evolving world of cybersecurity, according to a press release. Tendell has trained some of the world’s leading agencies and organizations, including the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, National Security Agency (NSA), U.S. Marshals Service and audiences from corporations like Toyota, Trans Union, Target, PayPal, MasterCard Worldwide, American Express and JP Morgan Chase.

As a military veteran, Tendell’s expertise has been recognized by commanding generals and featured in national publications like the Associated Press, New York Times and Forbes. He has been featured on national television stations such as CNN, Fox and MSNBC.

The event is being produced in collaboration with exclusive media partners Security Sales & Integration and ChannelPro magazines. As part of the educational programming, SSI Editor-in-Chief Scott Goldfine will deliver the presentation, “First Look! SSI‘s Physical-Logical Security Assessment Survey Results.” Featured will be key statistics from an original research project conducted by SSI. The roster of presenters will also include Paul Boucherle, who is principal of Matterhorn Consulting and SSI‘s “Convergence Channel” and “Business Fitness” columnist.
