SAN DIEGO — A global mix of companies traveled to the Security Summit in San Diego toting the cutting-edge security technologies of tomorrow that could very well be counted on to help protect the homeland. SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION was the exclusive industry media sponsor of the event.
Held June 4-5, the annual event was hosted by the nonprofit Security Network, a San Diego-based group of private companies, academics and government agencies devoted to promoting innovative dual usage security products and services. Its members include representatives of the Port of San Diego, the U.S. Navy’s Space & Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) and others.
About 60 exhibiting companies from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand displayed and demonstrated their wares before a panel of expert judges. Product categories included: bioterrorism; command and control; communications interoperability; disaster preparedness and first responders; port and maritime security; information assurance security software; and others.
More than 200 security industry and government personnel were in attendance to take part in speaker and panel sessions addressing topics to help ensure that the innovative products on display in the exposition can move to rapid commercialization.
“We are a celebration of finding technologies through collaboration,” Michael Jones, president and CEO of the Security Network, told SSI. “Fifty percent of the world’s science and technology research is conducted outside of the U.S. Small companies outside of the U.S. need partnership to bring new technology to market.”
