TORONTO — SecurTek Monitoring Solutions will offer new access control, home management and video verification services to bolster its authorized dealer program, the company announced this week at the Canadian Security Association’s (CANASA) Security Canada Central conference here.
“We get lots of good feedback from our existing dealers, and they are constantly attracting new dealers to our program,” SecurTek CEO Barry Rogers tells SSI. “We were already rolling out some video and access control services, which attracted new dealers. We figured we would just reinvigorate our marketing efforts to try to attract new dealers and new markets that we aren’t currently serving today.”
A subsidiary of SaskTel Telecommunications, SecurTek provides monitoring solutions and event related information services through an extensive dealer network and strategic partnerships, for 70,000 customers across Canada. SecurTek authorized dealers can access co-op marketing programs, online support, print and video materials to generate more leads and sales conversions. But what really differentiates the firm’s dealer network from its competitors is that SecurTek does not compete with its dealers; rather, the company provides dealers with a suite of services, according to Rogers.
“The dealers do the installation and any ongoing service, and they continue to get paid a monthly residual for that,” he explains.
With the increased demand for managed services, Rogers believes the new product offerings will help its dealer partners improve their businesses. For example, with managed access control, dealers can reach out to small business owners who are looking for a simple solution.
“Card access solutions are now driven down to a single door. So, instead of buying a whole bunch of equipment to manage their employees’ photos and IDs, now a small business owner can own a card access solution that somebody else manages on their behalf,” Rogers says. “Dealers can collect on a low monthly service fee.”
The dealer program will also allow companies to build their reputations with law enforcement officials, thanks to its Videofied video verification offering. Currently, many consumers in Canada have to rely on guard response services because police do not provide a timely alarm response due to false alarms. However, because SecurTek works closely with municipalities on false alarm issues, dealers have the opportunity to create partnerships that can lead to higher response rates, Rogers says.
“False alarms are always a challenge, and municipalities know alarm companies from a monitoring perspective,” he explains. “They know who will work together with them to reduce false alarms. They respond quicker and more efficiently based on that relationship.”
In addition to its recruitment efforts at the CANASA conference, SecurTek has also taken to industry trade publications and social media outlets, like LinkedIn and YouTube to attract potential dealers.
