Another name in security products looks to be no more, as a
consolidation appears to end the Senstar-Stellar name.
Magal
Security Systems Ltd. is merging its two U.S. subsidiaries –
Senstar-Stellar Inc. and Perimeter Products Inc. – into
one company to be called Magal-Senstar Inc.

Magal, based in Israel, says the move has been made to
better adapt its operations across the Atlantic to “to
developments in the U.S. market, particularly those
concerning the Department of Homeland Security,” according
to a Magal press release. Both Senstar-Stellar and
Perimeter Products manufacture perimeter access control
products, though Perimeter also produces a video intrusion
system.

“This merger will increase the ability of the Magal Group
to market and sell its products in the United States and
will also reduce our overhead expenses, leading to an
increase in the efficiency of our U.S. operations,” said
Magal Chairman Jacob Even-Ezra in a statement. “The merger
will create a larger entity and a significant market
participant, which we believe will present a more
competitive force in the U.S. defense and homeland security
markets.”

Senstar-Stellar is the result of Magal’s 1993 acquisition
of Fremont, Calif.’s Stellar Security Products Inc. and its
1997 pick-up of Carp, Ontario, Canada’s Senstar Corp. Magal
also acquired Fremont’s Perimeter Protection in 1997.
