Sentry Security Buys Out Competitor Stand Guard Security

Sentry Security has expanded its account base in the Chicago area with the acquisition of Stand Guard Security.

WHEELING, Ill. — Sentry Security has expanded its account base in the Chicago area with the acquisition of Stand Guard Security. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Operating for more than 30 years, Stand Guard of Crystal Lake, Ill., is a full-service security company that offers intrusion, fire, access control, video surveillance and energy management systems for homes and businesses in the Chicago market.

When Stand Guard Security President Mike Simon recently decided to focus his full attention on his software development company, Connected Technologies, he turned to Davis Mergers and Acquisitions Group to help sell the firm.

“Over the last five years, we have had many offers to sell or merge our company with other security firms,” Simon says. “[Sentry Security President] David Balestrery was the first potential buyer to offer us everything we were looking for.”

Sentry Security has served residential and commercial customers in the greater Chicago area since 1972. The firm specializes in the installation, monitoring and service of fire and security alarm systems, video surveillance and access control systems.

As part of the transaction, Sentry Security has offered every worker at Stand Guard full-time employment. Simon will stay onboard until the completion of the merger to help make it a smooth transition.
