Sierra Monitor Corp. Connects IoT Field Devices to Salesforce Platform

A new partnership with Devicify enables business applications to incorporate data from remote assets in the field.

MILPITAS, Calif. – Sierra Monitor Corp. (OTCQB: SRMC) has integrated its FieldServer protocol gateway with Devicify Connected Products Management (CPM), an IoT management suite on the Salesforce platform that manages and controls deployed assets across and through business processes.

Sierra Monitor’s Sentry IT fire and gas detection solutions are used by industrial and commercial facilities managers to protect their personnel and assets. Sentry IT branded controllers, sensor modules, and software are installed at thousands of facilities such as natural gas vehicle fueling and maintenance stations, wastewater treatment plants, oil and gas refineries and pipelines, parking garages, U.S. Navy ships and underground telephone vaults.

The company says the integration addresses a key pain point faced by developers of business applications on the Salesforce platform, namely the need to easily receive and send information between their business applications and the remote devices or assets that are installed in the field.

“Software companies and enterprises are building IIoT applications on cloud platforms to improve service, increase utilization of remote assets, and improve organizational productivity and innovation. However, application developers generally live in the world of business logic and are unfamiliar with the world of physical assets,” says Varun Nagaraj, CEO of Sierra Monitor Corp. “The integration of the FieldServer protocol gateway and Devicify CPM allows application developers on the Salesforce platform to focus on effectively using device data in their business logic rather than worrying about how to connect to devices to get and send data.”

The wide variety of products that communicate using the more than 140 different protocols supported by Sierra Monitor can now be controlled from within Devicify CPM and incorporated into business processes, explains Scott Johnson, CEO of Devicify. This enables “previously installed products and sensors as well as new products to easily interoperate with each other,” he says.
