5 Top Security Brands Win Security Solutions Awards at ASIS 2016

The second annual awards program – spotlighting applications in access control, security monitoring and video surveillance and other categories – measures how security products perform in actual deployments in the field.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Security Sales & Integration revealed the winners of its Security Solutions Awards during the ASIS Int’l 62nd Annual Seminar and Exhibits here at the Orange County Convention Center near Disneyland.

Formerly called the Awesome Application Awards, the program distinguishes those manufacturers and vendors whose electronic security solutions have been proven in the field to meet security, safety or other organizational needs for end users. The second annual winners are: ASSA ABLOY Group brand SARGENT, Axis Communications, Canon, Milestone Systems and Secure Global Solutions.

A panel of experienced security industry professionals judged each entrant based on not only the technical merits and ease of installation of the product or technology solution, but also the ability of it to help integrators meet project bid, specification or design parameters; satisfy regulatory, compliance or code requirements; and deliver the highest level of system capabilities, features, functionality, user-friendliness, results and client satisfaction across the full range of general, niche and vertical market applications.

All submitted project applications had to be installed or deployed in the past 18 months to be considered for the program. Here is a closer look at each winning entry:

ACCESS CONTROL
ASSA ABLOY’s IN120 WiFi Lock by group brand SARGENT was deployed as part of a solution to help senior living communities leverage their existing WiFi infrastructure to expand access control coverage to more doors easily and affordably.

SECURITY MONITORING
Secure Global Solutions’s nextStage was deployed by a large wholesale central station that needed local monitoring groups to monitor accounts directly and autonomously.

SPECIALTY CATEGORY
A Canon distributor recommended the VB-H43 pan/tilt/zoom (p/t/z) network camera for video analytics company Worknet, which was called upon to incorporate its vehicle recognition technology into a billboard advertising campaign for a major car manufacturer.

VIDEO SURVEILLANCE
Axis Communications and Milestone Systems tied for first place and were declared are co-winners.

The Sheriff’s Department in Grant Parish, La., utilized Axis video encoders with their preexisting analog system. The Sheriff’s director of IT deployed the AXIS P3225-LVE and AXIS M3007-PV network cameras in the detention center to monitor activity and maintain the safety and security of the facility’s officers and inmates.

Milestone’s XProtect Corporate video management software (VMS) was selected for a deployment by the Hartford, Conn., Police Department when it established its Real-Time Crime Center and Data Intelligence Center. The Center is staffed almost around-the-clock by three civilian crime analysts who monitor nearly 450 pan/tilt/zoom (p/t/z) cameras located throughout the city.

The aforementioned winners, along with several runners-up, will be featured in SSI‘s annual Technology Issue in December, as well as through numerous electronically delivered channels.
