Stanley Acquires A-1 Security

NAPERVILLE, Ill.

Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, formerly HSM Electronic Protection Services, has acquired the business operations of A-1 Security Ltd.

Owned by Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) President Bud Wulforst, the full-service security and monitoring company operates in the Las Vegas and Reno, Nev., markets.

The purchase includes A-1’s more than 8,000 commercial, industrial and other business clients, plus its residential customers. Ron Davis, Managing Partner of Davis Marketing Group Inc., helped A-1 Security facilitate the transaction. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Stanley remains committed to growing our electronic security division both domestically and abroad,” says Brett Bontrager, president, Stanley Convergent Security Solutions. “Acquiring strong regional players, like A-1, to fill-in our footprint in the U.S. is an important part of our growth plan because it strengthens our domestic reach.”

The acquisition expands Stanley’s path into the country’s fastest growing commercial market, while “enabling us to grow our national account support structure,” says Tony Byerly, COO, Stanley Convergent Security Solutions.

As president, Wulforst has operated A-1 Security for more than 25 years. He says selling the company will allow him to focus on his CSAA duties and responsibilities.

“Having Stanley Convergent Security Solutions acquire A-1 Security gives me the peace of mind knowing that my customers and employees will be taken care of with the highest level of service and responsiveness,” Wulforst says.

Howard Wulforst, COO of A-1 Security, will join the Stanley team as district general manager for Nevada, overseeing the branch offices in Las Vegas and Reno.

“Having grown up in the alarm business, I know the importance of responsive customer service and having local employees to deliver that service,” Wulforst says. “I am very excited about becoming a Stanley team member because they have the personal touch of a local company and the significant resources of a global company to provide leading edge technology and outstanding service.”
