Stanley Convergent Security Solutions Inc. (Stanley CSS) arrived at ISC West having just completed the acquisition of Sonitrol of South Texas, a Sonitrol dealer since 1977, located in San Antonio.
The sale includes the monitoring lines and contracts with mostly commercial retail, restaurant, healthcare, service and education customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In January, Stanley CSS purchased Sonitrol of the Palm Beaches, a Sonitrol dealer since 1974, located in West Palm Beach, Fla. Stanley paid $275 million for Sonitrol Corp. in 2008. There are still nearly 100 independently owned Sonitrol franchises that operate throughout North America.
The South Texas Sonitrol customers will be serviced by the Stanley’s existing Houston and San Antonio offices. Stanley already provides monitoring services to these accounts allowing for a seamless transition for the customer base.
“The acquisition is a natural fit for us,” Tony Byerly, COO of Stanely CSS, tells SSI. The purchase gives Stanley an additional Sonitrol presence in Texas overall and makes the company even stronger for existing and potential customers in the audio verification market.
Stanley CSS also announced at ISC West the company plans to collaborate with its Sonitrol franchise partners in mainstreaming Sonitrol Audio Verification, a technology that provides high apprehension rates and one of the lowest false alarm rates in the industry.
Sonitrol systems utilize what Byerly terms “audio impact technology.” Once sound of an intrusion is detected, an audio clip is immediately sent to a central station where monitoring specialists can review the recording and listen live to the local premise. Advanced technology in conjunction with the trained specialists is the leading factors in the high apprehension rates and low false alarm rates.
Law enforcement agencies reap additional benefit of having live updates from the operator on what they hear and what is happening as a break-in occurs. For example, the Sonitrol technology allows the operators to hear not only the shattering glass of a window breaking and the doors being broken open, but also more detailed audio such as the voices of intruders and even, at times, the names of the intruders which greatly facilitates the capture of the intruders.
By partnering with its Sonitrol franchise network, Stanley CSS now provides a coast to coast infrastructure for delivering Sonitrol Audio Verification to the entire North American market.
