Surveillance Video Helps Police Nab Suspect in Wisconsin Homicide Case
Waukesha’s Opticop security cameras offered ‘puzzle piece’ to investigation.
Security cameras helped link the suspect to evidence found at the crime scene.
Surveillance video helped police identify a suspect in the killing of a man in Waukesha, Wis., according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report.
The victim, Tim Minkley, was found Monday night. The suspect — whose name police declined to release — is a 57-year-old man who was an acquaintance of Minkley. The suspect was arrested on Wednesday after police obtained a search warrant.
The town’s Opticop security cameras allowed investigators to locate the suspect using two pieces of evidence connected to the crime scene.
“A puzzle needs to be complete” when conducting an investigation, Waukesha Deputy Police Chief Dennis Angle said, “and what Opticop did was give us a piece of that puzzle.”
The murder weapon was recovered from Fox River on Thursday.
