A record 825 exhibitors showed off their wares at the recent International Security Conference and Exposition (ISC) West in Las Vegas. Of that number, at least 90 percent of them of were peddling products. Most of those manufacturers had at least one new device to demonstrate, and many had several. That means there were likely a couple of thousand products to see on the show floor!
Considering the exhibition was open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on two days and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the final day that meant a total of 19 possible hours of show time. Doing the math, that means an attendee would have to hit nearly 40 booths per hour to take it all in. Not even speedy Dash from “The Incredibles” could accomplish that!
Not to worry. Security Sales & Integration summoned its own superheroes in the form of Technical Editor Al Colombo and Technical Writer Bob Dolph (sans cowls and capes). As they have done so many times before, the two security technology gurus combed the aisles in search of the show’s truly remarkable product breakthroughs. The dynamic duo has sifted through the deluge, casting aside the pedestrian products in favor of those offering true innovation. Although that still left scores of noteworthy items, Al and Bob have ultimately whittled down the field by identifying the 15 devices they believe are of the greatest interest and benefit to installing dealers and systems integrators.
The result, listed in alphabetical order by editor, is SSI’s annual Top 30 ISC West Product Picks.
