PSA-TEC 2016 to Highlight Security Robotics and Feature New Educational Sessions

PSA Security Network’s event, sponsored by SSI, is May 9-12 in Westminster, Colo.

Attendees to this year’s PSA-TEC – an industry-leading educational event produced by PSA Security Network – will be treated to an entirely revamped curriculum, including more than 50 new sessions.

“Nearly everything except for the industry standard certifications are new additions to the agenda,” says Kim Garcia, PSA Security Network’s director of marketing. “We listened to our attendees and are bringing fresh new courses led by new faces in the industry.”

Now in its 37th year, the event will be held at the Westin Westminster resort near Denver. SSI will once again serve as a media sponsor. With a mission to help executives, managers and technicians keep pace with industry trends and opportunities, Garcia says PSA-TEC continues to evolve according to what the market demands.

For example, the event will be tapping into an emerging trend in physical security – security robotics. There will be exhibitor demonstrations, education sessions and panel discussions that will cover ground-based, aerial and marine robotics and their potential market opportunities.

Cybersecurity will continue to be a cornerstone for the event as well. An entire track will be dedicated to this critical topic, covering everything from federal compliance to cybersecurity issues in the supply chain and even explore recurring revenue opportunities.

“Cybersecurity is a key challenge,” says PSA Security Network CEO Bill Bozeman. “Integrators want to be proactive in assessing their own company posture, their supply chain, and become more adept at evaluating the end users’ needs and providing solutions that address those needs.”

One of the most significant challenges facing security integrators, Bozeman explains, is the onslaught of new technologies and how their businesses can quickly adapt, especially when it comes to the impact of new technology offerings on traditional RMR models. Thus, PSA-TEC will be offering sessions on how to best leverage new technologies and evolve an integrator’s current RMR model.

“Figuring out how to incorporate new products such as robots and drones or the new VMS systems that tie into so many other aspects of an end user’s business can be overwhelming,” he says.

PSA Committees will conduct peer-to-peer sessions on project management, leadership, sales and marketing, technical topics and more. These include how to improve communication between sales and operations, leadership strategies, emerging technologies, and branding and project management best practices.

“Learning from a group of peers who face the same challenges is one of the best learning strategies and we are definitely bringing more of that to TEC this year,” Garcia says.

There will also be a special session hosted by PSA Committees on May 9 to provide PSA-TEC newcomers an overview of the event, the security industry as a whole, and how they can get the most out of the conference.

Bozeman will moderate a pair of “can’t miss” panel sessions – “State of the Industry” and “State of the Integrator” – bringing together several progressive-minded security experts. The panels will examine what is on the horizon in the industry, both from the integration company owner perspective and the professionals who are monitoring the industry as a whole on a daily basis.

Rounding out the event, PSA-TEC is well-known for its networking activities. These functions range from an opening night welcome reception to platinum- and gold-level sponsors hosting specially-themed hospitality suites. And this year’s PSA-TEC Jam will feature celebrated blues artist Johnny Sansone.
