Bates Security Bolsters Senior Leadership With 2 Key Hires

Industry veterans Russ Ackerman and Brandt Phillips will join Bates Security as the company prepares to grow its Jacksonville, Fla., branch and core market.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Bates Security, based here, has hired a pair of security industry veterans to bolster the company’s leadership.

Russ Ackerman, an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, will manage residential and small business sales for the Jacksonville, Fla., branch of Bates Security. Throughout his career, Ackerman has trained hundreds of successful sales consultants and managers.  He has received a variety of industry awards, including Honeywell’s Medal of Honor in 2015.

“I am very proud to be part of the Bates Security team. I think the fast growing marketing in Jacksonville is a perfect fit for Bates Security,” Ackerman says.

In his role as residential sales manager, Ackerman will develop and train the branch’s first residential and small business consultant team, complementing the Jacksonville commercial team started in 2016 by one of Bates Security’s owners, Bryan Bates.

Brandt Phillips, with more than 20 years of experience, will manage sales for the Lexington office of Bates Security and Sonitrol of Lexington. Phillips is a third-generation member of the security industry, with a successful career of owning/operating multiple security companies and most recently serving as commercial fire & security director of sales at NAPCO Security Technologies.
